Hi Joan,

Welcome to PixyBlog. I'm not 100% sure of your problem, but I can see that you've uploaded 17 photos successfully and you also have uploaded 9 photos in your Upload Queue. Your site is not active which is why you can only see the photos in the PixyBlog admin area and not on your site. If you were to activate your site then everything would be online (go to "Preferences > Settings > Site is active").

Sorry I can't be more specific. If you can give me any further details I may be able to assist you more.

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks Richard,

I've upload some images, and I have some in the queue, I know but the problem is when I have to upload several images, the first one ok then the transfer speed go down and it's impossible upload anything else.
I use this "jave applet" to upload images in others sites and goes ok.

I come from smugmug and I have to upload a lot of images and the "activate" this new site.

Thank

May be I will try on saturday with another computer and internet conection...

Hi Joan,

If you're uploading a lot of photos then I would recommend you use our Bulk Upload Java Applet instead of the New Entry form (which is good for one or a couple of images, but is not designed for bulk uploading).

Is it our Bulk Upload Java Applet that's giving you the problems? Let me know how it goes with another computer.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Joan,

Just a quick update. We've been testing our Upload Applet with multiple uploads at filesize's similar to the images you are uploading and we can't replicate the problems you are having. We'll continue to monitor this and let you know if we find anything, but as you suggested, I would try uploading from a machine on a different internet connection to see if that's where the problem is.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Joan,

I understand your frustration; what you are doing is correct and should work fine. I have just uploaded 30 JPEG images ranging between 200k and 2mb all-at-once using the bulk upload applet, and received no problems. When you first reported the problem we tried something similar from a different computer and, again, received no problems. The machines were both Windows XP; one with Firefox and one with IE. We've been running the bulk upload applet for 4 months now and we have not come across this problem.

All this would make me think that it's related to your set-up or internet connection; but you've confirmed that you have now tried this from two different computers on two different internet connections, which doesn't support my idea.

It does sound however like a network issue; your ISP throttling your uploads (for example). I'm a little at a loss for suggestions. Could you try yet another computer with a different internet connection? I know you're in the process of migrating to PixyBlog; if you're stuck we can do the uploading for you... just send us all the images and we'll get them uploaded for you. Just let me know.

We'll continue to look into this and let you know anything we find. If you find-out anything, please let us know too.

Sorry I can't be more specific right now.

Hi,

Don't worry! I am uploading my images manually because I have to enter some descriptions...
I will try later in other connection and computer but nevermind.

Thank you very much for your kind and quick attention!

Thanks

I'm having a similar problem. I'm uploading a bunch of photos using the Java bulk uploader. I have literally spent about 16 hours nonstop uploading 225 photos/40 megs. I've used multiple computers and multiple browsers (Firefox 2 & 3, IE 7) with the same slowness. Right now, I have a batch of 1100 photos uploading on my other computer, and the estimated upload time is 440 HOURS...that's 18 DAYS!!!! I've uploaded similar amounts of photos to other sites, and it usually only takes a couple hours, maybe 3. At this rate, it's going to take several months to upload all of the photos I want in my blog. Is there ANY way this process can be sped up? It's slower than old school 9800 baud dial-up!

Hi Rockerlee,

Yes, 18 days is a little on the excessive side. We're doing some tests now and we will hopefully have a solution for you shortly.

I'll get back to you on this thread.

Cheers,

Richard
